Context is everything. Such is the case with through. There’s two possibilities here:
- “I’m through with that” — In other words, I give up. I’m not trying to overcome that barrier or obstacle any more.
- “I’m going to break through” — I’m pushing through that barrier or obstacle.
Now a test for you:
- Go back 30 seconds in time and remember what you were thinking when you read “through”.
- Were you thinking about overcoming what was in front of you?
- Were you thinking about giving up on what was in front of you?
Whether we choose to acknowledge it or not, we each have our biases. But we only learn, grow, and live more fully when we face these biases head on.
With that in mind:
- What’s it take for you to be through?
As always, thanks for the time.

Isn’t it amazing what a picture can do to spruce up an otherwise drab page of text? The image burns in to our mind and we remember the article/post/story. While it’s not a “picture” per se, each of us leaves an image in other people’s minds.
That image is the “picture” that comes to mind when they think of us. While the initial image is often based on physical appearance, the long term image is often based on how nice you are and by how much you were able to help that person. It’s really that simple. Which leads to three simple rules that you might want to consider to improve your image:
- Dress appropriately and mind your physical appearance.
- Treat people nicely and always display good manners.
- Find out what people’s biggest problem is and do what you can to help them solve it
Amazingly simple. Amazingly effective.
With that in mind:
What’s your image?
As always, thanks for the time.

“That’s not normal!” Kind of makes me cringe when I hear that….
What’s one person’s normal is another person’s exceptional or extraordinary. That’s because we each have different experiences; and, accordingly, different reference points. What’s perhaps more interesting is how we can change these reference points by consistent, focused action.
If you’re like most people, each New Year you start with a few resolutions. If you’re like most people, these resolutions have fallen by the wayside by the end of January. That’s “normal”. However, it doesn’t have to be. There’s a number of people that succeed each year. They do so by following a simple recipe:
- Make sure the resolution is something that is important to you.
- Find a way to visualize/see success on a regular basis
- Make sure you have a support system/someone(s) to reinforce what you are doing
- Act on the resolution as quickly as possible each day
- Find some way to make it “painful” if you fail
- Reward yourself when/as you make progress
If you follow the above recipe, your new normal may surprise you!
With that in mind:
How do you define normal?
As always, thanks for the time.
(Oh and by the way that five and a half pound fish IS normal in my mind!)

Wouldn’t it be nice if life had an “F5” button? I’m guessing that a huge number of readers responded “Absolutely!”.
Now if you’re one of the folks that responded in the affirmative, I’ve got to ask? Who makes the decision about how you live your life gong forward? Who decides if you’re going to do things the same way, or if you’re going to push your internal refresh button and start again?
One of my favorites is “Everyone likes change, but no one likes TO change”. So true. BUT…. The reality is we each have the ability to decide what we will and will not do. What we will and will not think. Yes there’s consequences with each choice. But there’s also rewards. And whether we recognize it or not, each choice we make is a personal measurement of the value of the reward relative to the value of the consequence.
With that in mind:
What’s keeping you from pressing your refresh button?
As always, thanks for the time.
