Stick-to-it-ivinis.  OK, so it’s not a real word.  But…. it does work as a great lead in to the importance of persistence.  Edison captured the essence of the issue of persistence very well:

  • Genius is one percent inspiration and 99% perspiration.

Sure you have to have a good idea AND a desired direction when you start a new journey.  But the ultimate success is not based on the genius of the idea.  It’s based on the stick-to-it-ivinis of persistence.  You WILL hit barriers.  You WILL get tired.  You WILL hear from the naysayers.  You WILL have doubts.  It’s your ability to persevere through these challenges that will determine whether or not you achieve your goal.

So the next time you run up against one of those barriers, step back, think about Edison, remember that the barrier IS normal, and punch through.  Yeah it’s going to be a bit painful.  But imagine how painful it will be if you DON’T stick to it.  It’s all about my favorite quote from Mr. Rohn:

  • We must deal with one of two pains.  The pain of discipline or the pain of regret.
With that in mind:

  • Doesn’t the objective at hand warrant you being persistent?

As always, thanks for the time.
