“That’s not normal!” Kind of makes me cringe when I hear that….
What’s one person’s normal is another person’s exceptional or extraordinary. That’s because we each have different experiences; and, accordingly, different reference points. What’s perhaps more interesting is how we can change these reference points by consistent, focused action.
If you’re like most people, each New Year you start with a few resolutions. If you’re like most people, these resolutions have fallen by the wayside by the end of January. That’s “normal”. However, it doesn’t have to be. There’s a number of people that succeed each year. They do so by following a simple recipe:
- Make sure the resolution is something that is important to you.
- Find a way to visualize/see success on a regular basis
- Make sure you have a support system/someone(s) to reinforce what you are doing
- Act on the resolution as quickly as possible each day
- Find some way to make it “painful” if you fail
- Reward yourself when/as you make progress
If you follow the above recipe, your new normal may surprise you!
With that in mind:
How do you define normal?
As always, thanks for the time.
(Oh and by the way that five and a half pound fish IS normal in my mind!)
